Long before Austin became “the music capital of the world,” it’s been “home” for Myra Zapata. She’s spent her whole life learning everything there is to know about what makes the city—and its people—tick. “I’ve never lived anywhere else, and I don’t want to. I love everything about this city.” Raised in East Austin, Myra has had the unique privilege of seeing her childhood community evolve into a hip, highly desirable area. While she’s always game to try one of the area’s many trendy new restaurants, she’s just as happy to secure a seat at one of her favorite local establishments, like El Azteca, Ciscos, or Joe’s Bakery (where she indulges a passion for crispy tacos).
Myra’s education is firmly rooted in Austin soil as well. She attended high school at A.S. Johnston, home of the mighty Rams, before moving on to St. Edward’s University where she pursued a degree in Public Administration. It was during these formative years that Myra made many friends that would last a lifetime. Myra kick started her career in Project Management in the transportation industry for a software company, followed by an engineering firm where she worked for many years. In 2006, Myra fulfilled her lifelong dream working in real estate, and she hasn’t looked back since.
Myra was drawn to real estate because of her deep appreciation and commitment to the “American dream” of home ownership. After purchasing her first home at the age of 20, Myra knows all too well the significance and weight of investment, as well as the sense of accomplishment and success that come along with it. For Myra, it’s all about “being a part of making dreams come true.” She loves the hunt of finding clients their future home, and her intimate knowledge of Austin’s many diverse neighborhoods helps ensure the perfect fit.
Myra is undoubtedly a “people person,” and cites her biggest passion in real estate as the unique and diverse group of individuals it allows her to connect with. As the eldest of three sisters, she is a natural-born leader whose attention to detail is surpassed only by her self-discipline and motivation. Myra is by definition a “type A” personality in the very best sense of the phrase—a trait that serves her incredibly well in the real estate industry, as her many satisfied clients can attest to.
When Myra isn’t busy making clients’ dreams come true, you can find her rooting on her sons Edward and Benicio at their many sporting events (football being a personal favorite). A self-proclaimed “health nut,” she leads an active lifestyle complete with workout sessions, weight lifting, and long runs on Town Lake. Her need for speed also translates to bicycling and kayaking, that is, when she’s not busy perfecting her “warrior pose” in yoga. When she’s not in motion, she still finds time to relax on the couch with a good book or take an evening stroll with her beloved dog, China, and nephew, Trae.
